Whitehaven Beach

Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays of Australia is considered to be one of the best beaches in the world.  It is one of the most important places to see for visitors to the area who want to get the best overview of all the Whitsundays have to offer.  It is located on the eastern shore of Whitsunday Island, the namesake member of this world class destination that includes 74 islands in all.  Whitehaven Beach can only be accessed by boat, and campers are not allowed, so a visit is a day trip from one of the other islands.

The sands of Whitehaven Beach are pure white and very fine, while the water is clear and blue.  The water is gentle making it a friendly beach for families with children.  Don't forget the sunblock, sunglasses, and wide brimmed hats!  The beach is never crowded and stretches out for several kilometers, so even if there are several tour boats on a particular day, there won't be a crowd.

There are no facilities on Whitehaven Beach.  It is wise to bring fresh water for drinking.  For those who sail on their own, Hamilton Island is fairly near, and is a good place to go for needed supplies.
